verify your coverage

Prior to your first session, be sure to verify the specifics of your coverage and ask your insurance the following questions:

  • "What are my In-Network benefits?

  • "What is my co-pay/co-insurance?

  • "Do I have a deductible? If so, what is the amount?"

Out of network

If you’d like to use your insurance coverage and notice I am not In-Network with your coverage, I will provide you with what is called a Superbill (Statement for Insurance Reimbursement). Once I provide this statement to you, it is your responsibility to send the Superbill to your insurance provider in order to receive reimbursement for each session. Depending on your benefits, your session may be 100% covered!

If you elect to use your "Out of Network" benefits, some insurance companies will assist in paying a percentage or the entire fee for your sessions once you send them a receipt of service.

Insurance Limitations

As a client, you have the right to know the limitations to treatment when insurance coverage is involved:

  1. A diagnosis is required to bill insurance, and this label will be part of your medical record permanently.

  2. Clients' records are NOT protected, which means that all information about the client, including very personal information, may be obtained by the insurance company.

  3. Clients' care is and length of sessions are dictated by the insurance company, and the therapist essentially works for the insurance company, NOT you, the client. This can compromise the quality of mental health services provided.

  4. NOT all issues, problems, and/or conditions dealt with in therapy are covered by insurance.

  5. Insurance does NOT cover online sessions.
